OYSTER FESTIVAL 2013

When one thinks of the Oyster, one’s thoughts turn naturally to the Tour de France and its disgraced former champion, LA.  And thus our theme for the 2013 Ontario Oyster Shucking Championships and Festival: Oysterstrong 25 – Eatin’ Ain’t Cheatin.’

OOF Email TagThis will be the 25th anniversary of the festival, and of our relationship with Environmental Defense, our charity partner. To date, the Ontario Oyster Festival (or OOF) has raised over $100,000 for ED, as well as offering inexpensive drinks, oysters, lobster, live music, competitive oyster eating, great auction items, Rodney ‘in character,’ and of course, the best shuckers in the country duking it out to the oyster enthusiasts of Toronto.

THE DATE: Sunday, July 21                                                      THE TIME: 2:00PM start.

THE PLACE: The lot between 461 and 469 King St W          THE PRICE: $35.00/ticket

Your ticket gets you into the Festival, as well as a couple of drink tickets and a plate of oysters or Coq au Vin (French, see? For the non-seafood eaters). If you’re still thirsty, draft beer and wine will run you $3.00 a glass. Cheapest drink on King St. And you can feel good knowing you’re doing your part to improve aquatic ecosystems so the next generation of Oyster Enthusiasts will have something they too can put in their mouths.

MUSIC – Opening will be Festival perennials The Waxbills – Reunited for one show only! The closing act is the return of God Made Me Funky.
