Spot Prawns Incoming Next Week

Next Week, starting May 4th, we should see the first live BC Spot Prawns in our tanks.  Spot Prawns have a delicate sweet flavour and a firm texture, and turn a very pretty red when cooked. We’ll often steam them with beer and mustard seeds, or fry the heads but leave the bodies as sashimi.  We should see them for the next 45 to 60 days only – it’s a short fishery, one that is very well-managed and that has very low impact on other species. So a guilt-free live shrimp. How nice is that?

WINEMAKER’S DINNER WITH BASTIANICH AND PRA MAY 6

On Wednesday, May 6th, we’ll be getting together with our friends at The Vine (after their 15th anniversary tasting) to host a Winemaker’s Dinner at the Oyster House.  Winemakers from PRA in the Veneto and Bastianich in Friuli come together with Chef Rodrigo de Romana to offer 5 courses with pairings. Salmon, scallops, fish and of course, the Oyster, with wines to match.  Terrific Italian wines paired with terrific North American seafood.

Price: $85/person, not including taxes and gratuities.
